Not that this weighs heavy on my mind or anything... its more of an "I don't get it" type of thing. But it seems like every time we invite a big group of people over, most people find a reason not to come. I guess take our wedding for example. We invited 200 people and not even 100 came. (And don't they say to expect 70%?) I guess this is payback for not being as social as I probably should be. I wonder if this means people really don't like us.
Where do you meet people? Work? School?
We met the majority of people here through meetup groups and work. I haven't met too many other people via mutual friends. And honestly, my work just isn't a good "pool" of people to hang out with. First of all, most the people at my work -- I would never hang out with on a daily basis. And second, of the ones I would, they are either too old (because they have kids my age) or they have really young kids and no babysitter.
It makes me feel bad that people don't like to hang out with us. We have like 2 friends who are always up for anything, and I love that about them. Though, we do the same for them... I dunno. Maybe I'm too sensitive. Or maybe we just have 2 friends in this city. Or maybe this means I really do need to move to Austin. I've heard there are more people there like me.

Tunes
Music: Tori Amos / Yes, Anastasia (Live in San Antonio, TX - 11/26/07) and A Sorta Fairytale (Live in SA, 4/23/03)
Mood:
Not Sure
I enjoy music.
I especially enjoy music I can shake my booty to.
Back in my college days, next to my daily Tori Amos dose, all I listened to was crazy "nu-metal" rock because that's what (the now) hubs listened to. But my favorite genre was "industrial" - the kind of music that incorporated a few DJ-ish/programmed "beats" with electric guitar. So I loved bands like Ultraspank (my absolute FAV), Korn (the later years), Gravity Kills, The Union Underground, Stabbing Westward, Powerman 5000, Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails, etc.
I never really admitted to myself how much I loved dance music until about 2005. After all, I have always loved beats - hell, it's even in my blood. Have you seen traditional Korean drumming?
Well today I saw an "announcement" that made me way too excited - a collaboration between Chris Cornell and Timbaland; I love the songs Timbaland produces and I'm a HUGE fan of Chris Cornell! (His "Finally Forever" song was the 1st song my hubs and I danced to at our wedding.) Timbaland is supposed to produce Cornell's next solo album. Articles I have read say that both artists think this collaboration is their best material yet.
Additionally, Timbaland is creating the first only "mobile record" that will only be available to subscribers of Verizon. I saw a "vCast" video (for Verizon Wireless customers) that played a commercial with a snippet of a song w/Chris Cornell and Timbaland. It sounds great! I can't wait to hear the album. The snippet starts around 56 seconds. Take a peak. It makes me want to become a Verizon customer. Too bad I'm locked into Sprint for another 2 years.
Now that I've overkilled on You Tube videos, I'm out.

Happy Memorial Day
Just a quick post. Want to wish everyone a Happy & Safe Memorial Day.
A few things to catch up on:
- Grad school is killing me and I'm finding it harder and harder to focus because I'm so tired all the time. I'm in 2 classes that are fairly demanding this semester - Managerial Accounting (I HATE all forms of accounting) and a Leadership class. It's interesting, just draining.
- I want a laptop and I'm thinking of getting the cheapest MacBook there is (the one that is $1000.) I hate going to study groups with no laptop. It makes me feel old school.
- We are looking to get a bed frame. We like this one, even though, it seems the majority of people I talked to don't care for my/our taste. (But.. who cares. We are the ones who live here and will sleep in it.) I just am envisioning the whole bedroom and it seems to flow. I could be wrong, though. I don't have many creative bones in my body.
- I am trying to get back on track with workouts. We'll see how long it lasts... going to try to utilize SparkPeople more, just hope my work doesn't block it. I'd like to lose around 15 pounds by my birthday. Thinking of personal training sessions again (I told myself I'd get some if I got all A's - and I have made A's for my 1st 4 classes.) So I just have to make sure I am committed.
- Starting a new "tracking" system at work which is basically a managerial micromanaging tool. We have to document EVERY single thing we do. I'm very over my job. It's so not HR like I am trying to tell myself it is.
- My birthday is coming up and I kind of want XM Radio since my car is already wired for it, and because I haven't gotten anything I *really* wanted in awhile.
- Getting the itch to buy a dog.
Well, I guess that's about all that's going on.
Have a good one, folks.

Update?
Why can't I find a normal time to update?? Well I suppose its cuz I took a nap earlier today and not super tired (yet). I should read. That will knock me out.
Man, but I'm SO not looking forward to work tomorrow. I've had it with my boss and plan on making yet *another* complaint to HR about her actions. What sucks is, it takes an act of Congress to fire someone at my work. I plan to do whatever I can to speed up the process. She's the WORST boss I've ever had.
Anyway, this weekend we finally purchased a mattress!! (About damn time, I say.) The mattress we got was a Simmons WorldClass Beautyrest – Pillow Top. Specs: http://www.simmons.com/products/brands/beautyrest/worldClass.html.
The model we got is the Adeline – found here: http://www.furniturelandde.com/proddetail.php?prod=BEDDING12.
The Simmons comes with a “Triton” foundation which is supposed to prevent sinking. The main thing I read online were complaints about sinking. I even bought a Consumer Reports account to find out what the best mattresses were, only to find out, they don't rate mattresses!! (Poo.)
Anyway, we also bought this antimicrobial cover to protect from sweat, dust mites, and allergens because if we put “unapproved” cleansers on the mattress, it could void our warranty... :P Though, the nice thing about this place we bought it from is that they are family/locally owned, and she told us if we had a problem in 30 days, they’d take the bed back and exchange it for something else.
The cost of the mattress was around $700 less than what another store quoted us. So we bought it.
As far as frames, there was a Bassett Furniture right next door. There are 2 we liked... one has an end piece and the other doesn’t. If we can make it there on Thursday the 22nd, we’ll get 25% off everything (Memorial Day Sale!) :)
1st one (low profile... easier for my short legs to crawl in): http://www.bassettfurniture.com/store/productDetailForm.asp?maxItems=30&imgid=908&Seq=26&stype=&mc=1&CatID=500&ItemId=120&SubItemId=-1&ColId=-1.
2nd one (also low profile, but this is the one I preferred because I like the end piece): http://www.bassettfurniture.com/store/productDetailForm.asp?maxItems=30&imgid=929&Seq=22&stype=&mc=1&CatID=500&ItemId=120&SubItemId=-1&ColId=-1.

I want to paint the walls a warm vanilla color. Think it would look good with that dark cherry finish.
Other than bedding and stuff... school's going ok & I'm ready for a new job. More pay and varied job tasks, PLEASE!!!
Oh yeah! And our landlord is selling the house to us. Yippy! We have a meeting with her on Tuesday to figure out all the details. It will be ours in December, I hope. :)
Well, that's all for now! Night!

Continuing with the meme's.
TV: "Short List" films on PBS.
Mood: Tired of homework
To continue with the meme series.......
1. You have 50 dollars in your pocket - what do you do with it?
Groceries, gas, gum... maybe a lottery ticket.
2. What is your most guilty pleasure?
Food, most definitely... especially cheesy. And vanilla ice cream.
3. Have you ever seen someone die?
No, thank goodness!
4. Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you?
Not really confused, but somewhat nervous. I kind of wish this year would hurry up and go by so I can be done with my Masters, hopefully get a more well-deserving job, and start my family.
5. What was the last movie you saw for pleasure, and would you recommend it?
We got Men of Honor on Netflix. Older, but it was fantastic! I certainly would recommend it.
6. What was the last book you read, for pleasure, and would you recommend it?
Don't remember. I started reading a book before the wedding got crazy, now it's all grad school related which I wouldn't recommend!
7. What geographical area do you see yourself living in in 5 years?
At this rate, definitely Texas. Let's be realistic here, folks...
8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
...Um, I kind of married him!
9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently?
My job has me uncomfortable. Not only is my new boss is the pits, but my two clients basically have NO work now. Come end of the summer, I'm not sure I'll have anything to do. I've already started down the "busy work" road and it super sucks.
10. If you could have chosen at birth whether to be a boy or a girl, which would you be?
Definitely girl, but there are some things that frustrate me about being female.
11. Which of the 7 Deadly Sins do you think you relate to the most & why?
Gluttony - hands down. I love good food and drinks!
12. Thunderstorms - cool or scary?
I think they are so cool. In Lubbock, since it's basically "the plains" ... you can see storms from far away. It's really neat! My dad and I used to watch "lightening shows" outside when I was a kid.
13. Clinton or Obama?
Feeling a-political these days.
14. Would you rather be a really good person or a really interesting person?
Really interesting because I can be "really good" but if I'm not interesting, who will talk or be friends with me? No one likes someone solely based on goodness.
15. Do you believe in some form of life after death?
Yes, I think something does exist.
16. If you were about to be put to death, what would be your last meal?
Hmm... somber scenario. Maybe I'll think, "if I were moving from SA... what would my last meal be?" ;) I suppose a hamburger made with angus beef, cheese fries, and a chocolate malt. When Scott and I first moved to SA, we went to this one restaurant every Friday and ordered the same things. Too bad the place closed... but we found a few subsititutes. Those places bring back memories I would never trade.
17. What's the most exciting thing you're up to this weekend?
Nothing really. Same 'ole, same 'ole. Homework, cleaning, groceries, laundry... not necessarily in that order.
18. Do you have a motto? If yes which one?
No... well, maybe "Don't settle for less."
19. What new "trend" are you most ready to jump on the bandwagon with?
No idea. I'm so disconnected these days. Love a cute new hairstyle and I'd have to see about the clothes, though...
20. What place most speaks to you?
Outdoors... Visually beautiful or interesting... and quiet. Windy. Like, before a storm. I like mountains, canyons, or open plains. They make me feel spiritually "connected" with people or anything on the planet.

The 5 Things Meme
I was tagged by Jennifer of Jennifer Navarrete "...living the dream..." to do a "5 Things You May Not Know About Me" meme. Theoretically I'm supposed to tag 5 people, but I don't have 5 blogs I regularly read. I'm tagging Aloe01's ALOE-HA! and SACynic The Voice of San Antonio. :)
5 Things Meme
...and there you go. 5 things you may or may not have known about me.
5 Things Meme
1) I feel like I'm always on some crazy yo-yo diet.
2) I secretly wish I was the coolest DJ ever.
3) Felt the "baby itch" a few weeks ago when I became envious of my coworker's baby bump.
4) I'm obsessed with office supplies; I love pens, pencils, and fun stickies!!!
5) One of my favorite movies is Twister... my hubs always makes fun of me for that one.
...and there you go. 5 things you may or may not have known about me.
